CZ-52 Ammo??

I have heard that the S&B 7.62x25 FMJ round is a bad "Fight Stopper," But yet I am told it is a good defensive round due to the high power of the cartridge in general. I have also heard that S&B makes a Soft Point round in 7.62x25, but have not seen this for sale anywhere. Could somebody please 'clear up' these two subjects for me?

Thanks

The 7.62x25 launches a .30 caliber bullet at around 1500fps (pretty fast for a pistol). However, since it can be hard to find expanding ammunition, it has a tendency to zip right through targets unless it hits bone.

I haven't heard much information on the 7.62x25 round being used in shootings, but I understand that the 30 Mauser, a similar but lower powered cartridge, was not considered to be very effective at stopping unless it hit bone. When that happened, the bone splintered and created lots of secondary projectiles with generally deleterious effects on the shootee.

The only company I know of at this time that sells loaded 7.26x25 ammo with JHP bullets is:

http://www.owlnet.com/quality/index.html

I've never used any of their products, so I can't vouch for them personally.

I believe that Dangerous Dave, the Old Western Scrounger sells JHP bullets in the proper caliber if you care to load your own.

I am not sure what the "stopping power" is from a pistol, but the Russians used that round to great effect out of the PPSh submachine gun in WW2.

Yeah, I thought that the FMJ ammo in 7.62x25 would zip on through, but the reason I ask in the first place is because somebody told me (could be B.S.) that the high power of the round caused more "Shock to the nervous system, " (even in FMJ) therefore causing better "Stopping Effect." Well, thanks for the advice. :)

I just picked up a CZ-52, and I ordered a few boxes of S&B FMJ ammo from AIM. I can assure you that I wouldn't want to get shot with this pistol. :)

If the 7.62x25 round from a CZ-52 doesn't get the job done, you could always light up the BG with its impressive muzzle flash. And if that didn't work, I bet the CZ-52 could give a most punishing pistol whipping :).

Hey, don't get me wrong!

I'm not badmouthing the pistol or the round, just passing on what is generally held to be true.

I personally think a lot of the gun and carry one frequently. But, I don't expect the FMJ 7.62x25 ammo to have the same effect as a .357 Mag JHP.
