CZ 452 Lux

I've been looking for a quality .22 LR bolt action for about 4 months now. Recently, I came into a Russian TOZ 8M, but the barrel is not true to the action.

I asked here about the Savage Mark II-LV and got one reply, as I recall. They are just over $200 MSRP ($225).

Now, I have found a source locally for the CZ 452 Lux for $229. Can anyone tell me if that is a fair price?

I 'preciate the feedback.

sensop,
I believe that's a decent price, but I have heard some of some paying as little as $170 for them. Whether or not that's a wholesale price I don't know.

FWIW - Three gunshops, three prices.

The expensive gun store here had one with a stunning piece of wood on it for some silly price like $369.95. When I went back to buy it they'd already sold it.

The second store had a perfectly nice one for $269.95.

The same week a good friend found one on the other side of town for $179.95, but the stock is just plain ugly. The box says lux and the stock is checkered, but I've seen better fence posts. He refinished it before he shot it and it is still ugly. He'd dump it, but unfortunately it shoots itty-bitty little groups with Winchester ammo and a BSA scope he took off a Mini 14.

452 differences

Sensop,
The cheap 452's have a birch stock while the 452 Lux has a really nice (so I hear) walnut stock. You might also look at the 452: american, varmint, and Silouhette. All these rifles but the 452 special (the cheap one) can be seen at http://www.czusa.com/pro/prod_b.html
From what I hear cz rifle are VERY, VERY accurate, and many think they are the best rimfire deals going.
Hope this helps!
