There doesnt seem to be much interest in this gun on this board. Anyone have one? What do you think of it? What's a good price for it?

Good, solid gun. Relatively compact. But has a heavier DA trigger than I like. You can shoot it from cocked and locked, though, so the heavy DA trigger is not really an issue. Single action is pretty good.

(Basically, its a CZ-75B with a 1911-like grip angle, but using double-stack mags. It will accept standard CZ .40 mags, and most EAA .40 mags. The CZ-40 mags, because of their thick baseplates, won't work in other guns, unless the baseplates are swapped out.)

Mine has taken a while to warm too, but it does everything well. Seems to like 165 gr. rounds more than 180...

Got mine for $275 a while back. At that price its a very good deal.

Ed2,

I've had one for about 1 year now. Fun to shoot. Like Walt's, mine prefers 155s / 165s over 180s. Good accuracy, too. Doesn't handle the .40 "snap" as well as the CZ 75B, at least for me anyway. No problem recommending it at all.

Super nice gun, accurate, never has failed
to feed. Handles the 40 cal very well.
I should add it is the most accurate
40 I have tried.
price range of $299-375.

I've had one a little over a month and really like it. I picked it up for $340 locally.

To be completely honest, if you are just looking for a CZ in .40, a CZ-75 in that caliber would probably a better all around pistol. However, I already had a '75 in 9mm and although it's certainly a fine pistol, I didn't want two of the same design.

The CZ-40 is a cool shooter with an interesting story, sized and shaped similarly to a Commander, hardly kicks any more than the 9mm and mine is rock solid reliable. The only drawback to it is it's trigger feel, but mine seems to be improving with a lot of range time and dry firing.

The CZ-40 was also designed specifically to shoot .40 rather than a converted 9mm. If that's important, really I don't think it is in most cases.

BTW: The '40 is now my bedside pistol. So that shows how much faith I have in it.

If it had a steel frame I would be all over it. For some reason I just shy away from alloy framed pistols (and polymer for that matter). Maybe I'm just being too worried about the guns lasting forever, or close to it. Does anyone else think alloy framed guns don't last as long? I could very well be worried about nothing...

A good friend of mine got one about 8 months ago, and he really likes it. I have shot it a number of times and I think it's a keeper. I liked the 1911 like grip style alot. Good solid gun for a great price.

Not a 1911, but a good shooter.

Mine is a good gun, though I haven't had it very long (only about a week).

I wasn't entirely impressed with the accuracy. However, it is about average in that department, it is just that after shooting my CZ 75 and my buddy's CZ 85 Combat which are incredibly accurate I expected more. The dot on the front sight is just too small. I guess much practice or new sights would help.

The gun seems to be reliable. It is a CZ so I would expect that to be so.

The trigger isn't bad. It is a little heavy, but I am working on breaking it in (150 live rounds, about 200 or so dry fire trigger pulls). While it is a little heavy it isn't too bad and it isn't too long (for a DA/SA gun it seems just about perfect in length).

The feel is great. It has a 1911 grip angle which is very comfortable and for even more comfort it wears rubber grip panels. It seems to be weighted and designed just about perfectly for handling the .40s&w round.

Edit on 5/15, around 2:30PM

I almost forgot to address your price question. I paid about $380 for mine, though prices around here are a bit higher than average. Right now I saw several on GunBroker (some were used) for around $300, "buy it now" prices ranged from $300-$373 (remember you'll have to pay shipping and your FFL's transfer fees when you buy online).

Cz 40

You have gotten more feedback about the pistol than I could give you, so I won't add anything about the CZ 40. However, one of the reasons you may not have seen much about it is the huge following CZ has on another website [www.czforum.com]. You will find even more info on all types of CZ's there.

Just to put my $.02 in, I saw the cz 40 when it first came out and was curious about it, but couldn't find any reason, other than brand name, to buy it when I had a S&W model 410 that looked and felt about the same, and shot the same caliber. I am now happy to see that the CZ75SA in .40 is legal in california, so I may go that route. If I wanted a double-action .40, I would probably lean toward the 75-type frame, as it just feels better in my hand. My Baby Eagle 9mm feels better than any of my other pistols, except the Kahr K9.

Sorry, got off on a tangent.
