Some people will be obsessed with these rings, but why bother trying in vain to clean them all up if they are just going to appear again as soon as you shoot the revolver.

I'm not crazy about the burn marks on ANY of my handguns, revolver or semi-auto.

I don't have any stainless steel revolvers, though, so it's not a big issue.

I do have a 4506 Smith, and that can get some burn marks around the muzzle, but they clean off with some elbow grease.

No biggie here. Just a good chance they are gonna be back with in the next week and possible the very next day. Heck, sometimes the very same day!

Some people go completely Lady MacBeth on the burn rings, when it's not really an issue.

Every technique I know of for removing the burn rings involves removing metal (even if it's a very small amount) every time. It's not worth it. I scrub the cylinder face and the area around the forcing cone with a bronze brush to make sure there's no excess carbon buildup, but that's about it.

Yep-Like the wifey said, I just toothbrush ours with some #9 & CLP,
wipe a little oil & wipe dry & shoot again and again and again and again.....

It's like making your bed....

Why go to the trouble, if you're just going to sleep in it again?

I get the easy stuff from the cylinder face. Anything stubborn stays (unless it's lead deposits... but that points to a whole 'nother issue that has to be addressed).

I usually clean them with a Lead Away Cloth. I don't like them so I remove them each time I fire the guns.

I clean any fouling that is built up off the gun, but a little powder burn on the stainless......... nope, its just gonna come back.

I use some Hoppes #9 or CLP with a patch and, sometimes, a brush. That's it. It's just going to happen again.

I use nothing more harsh than an old toothbrush and a little CLP. Why bust your butt cleaning it when they'll be back next time you shoot? If someone is really OCD about this then they should leave it in the safe.

I just clean em with a toothbrush and some cleaner. They are probably going to be right back on there so why worry.

Burn Rings=Those carbon rings on the front of a revolver
cylinder that are left after shootng and general cleaning.
