Cylinder Bore vs Accu - choke - differences?

PM - skeet is shot here with a "jugged" choke(even more scatter) and skeet choke(no choke atall -as far as I can see!), top and bottom for a superimposed or u/o.
Screw-ins are used but not favoured by the top shooters, who have spare barrels for each match.PATTERNS with #10 abd #9 shot(British sizes - I don't know US ones) are ALL important in this fast and excellent match.
If the 'accu-choke' is one of the adjustable varieties EG like a 'Coutts Compensator' (?) my experience is that it is probably OK for farm use, but results have to be monitored carefully on pattern boards or news-print for hunting, as only a small twist in either direction can alter patterns quite dramatically.
I refused a Mosberg 12GA P/A with a badly fitted/soldered factory fitted adjustable choke some time back, which on "full" could not even hit a rabbit at 35m !I personally came to hate it. (It also had a "tear " of solder left on the connection, but that could have been reamed out OK).
Any heavy chokes like that at the fore-end tend to adversely affect balance/handling and also look ugly, in many people's opinion they are also not what shotgunning is all about.....

I appreciate your response. I value your opinion especially as you seem to be much more knowledgeable on skeet than I. I'm currently looking at a dual purpose shotgun. Actually, it will be used more for skeet than HD. AS I've never shot skeet before I'm looking to keep my first purchase under $250. I narrowed down the field to the Mossberg 500 8 shot version and the 870 Express. So if I understand your statement above you feel the cylinder bore would be better performing and LOOKING than the Accu- choke

Or did I miss your point?!Well, sort of...really skeet is a specialist Olympic strand of shotgunning and normally requires a specialist gun, usually a O/U here, with very open chokes.
I assumed(wrongly?) your Mozzie is a pump gun with tube mag etc.
Use for HD is extremely possible with a u/o set up for skeet(Scan for "shoot") due to the expected close ranges used. But you have only two shots(one is often enough though!!)with a double s/s or o/u.
As far as confidence goes 4-5 shots from an I/Choke pump-gun gives a bit more scope and choice of ammo(slugs - SSGs etc etc).
Perhaps you need TWO guns, eventually! As a dual purpose anything s always mediocre in either function, as it is of course a compromise.
This is how great collections are started...go buy another!

Thanks for clearing that up. I was afraid you were going to recommend two guns though. It's true, when you try to make do you always suffer in the long run.
Since I hopefully will NEVER need a shotgun in a HD area I will concentrate on a USED skeet gun - for starters at least.
