Cylinder and Slide

C&S has an excellent reputation. They'd timed, tuned, and accurized a Colt OMS for me, and also remounted the barrel after truing the forcing cone. The work was clean and very well done. I've also purchased the parts that they make - e.g. their 1911 trigger group kits.

The owner, Bill Laughridge, is a well regarded pistol smith.

The downside of having C&S work on something is that their wait time is about a year, and then however long it takes them to return the gun.

What do you want to have done?

back in the early 1980's had C & S do their basic reliability package on my Browning Highpower. before even hardball was a challenge for it and afterwards it hasn't messed up on any load since. in that time frame it was $200 and turn around was supposed to be about a month. it took about 2 months bit that included the xmas holidays so I didn't think that was too bad. no doubt they have gotten a LOT busier since then and I don't know how much the package costs now. I have thought about putting a bomar rear sight on it and when that gets done I don't kow but C & S will do the job. they do good work.

Thanks guys - Need to get some action work done on a Colt Officers Model Heavy. Is in a .32 S&W long. A very special pistol - want to be sure the people that do it know what they are doing - Hope they can either get or make parts.

That's a very collectible revolver.

Here's some unsolicited advice - be sure that any repairs that are performed don't detract from its value. It would probably be a good idea to emphasize this to whoever is doing the work, and to ask them to check with you before making any modifications that you weren't expecting. In my experience, Gunsmiths aren't always mindful of this sort of thing.

I have used C&S one time for a small job...everything was perfect and finished 'on time', which is hard to find now days. I have only seen good work from C&S.

Having bought one of thier R&D 1911's , work is OK not worth 1700 bucks thats for sure . This was a group/whiskey buy , of the 5 that were ordered I'm the only one that still has one .

Overall , its a 4 out of 10 .

I would not mess with your pistol unless it was a repair to keep it running .

Bill's shop is one of the finest out there and he is a super pistolsmith as are all the guys who work there

Small project...

I bought an extended S&W firing pin. Some people say their FP's are prone to breaking but I have had no issue with the one I got from them. I had been getting light primer strikes and misfires, but no more.......
