CW9 Holster

For those who carry a Kahr CW9:

What holster do you use for IWB carry?

I have a couple of holsters -- Galco and some generic nylon -- neither seems to hold the weapon securely. I like the gun but don't carry as frequently as I would with a better holster.

The Bersa BP9CC is the same size as the CW9. When I couldn't find holsters listed for the Bersa, I bought the ones for the Kahr. I had an Old Faithful hybrid, DeSantis Sof-Tuk and an OWB pancake from Vega. The Old Faithful, Crossbreed, or Alien Gear holsters are secure and comfortable, but they are a pain in the butt to put on and take off. My brother has the CM9 and an Alien Gear holster, but he carries IWB in a Sticky most of the time because he has to go in and out of carry restricted areas all day long.

I have both an MTAC and a CTAC for my CW40. Both are secure and comfortable. I prefer kydex so I like the CTAC better. When adjusted properly it can be worn all day and you hardly know it's there.

Well, not the CW9 but it's slightly smaller little brother the CM9 is very comfortable, and secure in my Theis Holsters IWB Hybrid.

I used own a CW9 until I "upgraded" to a K9 Elite. I used and later converted it to a K9 holster on my own, sloppily: http://www.crossbreedholsters.com/HotcakesStore/ProductViewer/tabid/113/slug/MiniTuck/Default.aspx

Good 'ol Cross Breed Mini-Tuck's in horse, mind you. Yes, they cost a pretty penny, and you have to have a short wait for them to make you one, but I definitely recommend horse for IWB. It comes stiff-as-a-board, like it's plastic, almost, but it eventually retains the shape of your body. I carry almost every day and I am decidedly tough on all my gear/clothing. That my original Mini-Tuck in horse lasted 4 years before it wore out satisfies me. I've seen my friends IWB holsters wear out. Cross Breed simply replaced mine, no questions asked.

Retention is adjusted to however much you want, by heating the trigger guard and ejection port area with a blow dryer. I initially had so much retention that I couldn't draw the gun at all, so you might have to play with it. But I love it. You won't ditch your gun, ever, if you do it right, which is key to me in a everyday carry IWB holster. The regular cow ones are probably OK, but I am now convinced of horse hide's resistance to sweat and water, stiffness, and general toughness.

Remora OWB/IWB. It allows for both ways. Inside the holster doesn't need a belt. OWB uses a velcro flap that secures. Not pretty but works well for $25.

Alien Gear

Have had 3 of these and they work very well. Retention is totally adjustable with a hex key (which they provide). Keep it handy to check the screws unless you locktite them.

They are difficult to get on and off, so not good if you have to do that multiple times a day. Pretty much all hybrid IWBs are like this due to the widely spaced clips. They are also a phenomenal value. I am surprised they haven't raised the price because they could easily charge more. But don't, Alien rocks!

Pretty much why I went with the Theis. A few bucks cheaper, hand made to order, and personally checked to a gun the same as you order, and the three I have ordered over the past couple years have all arrived in 10 days or less.:D

IWB Lou Alessi talon. An older version with the clip. I like it because it is secure on the belt but easy to get on and off.

I have had a couple IWB holsters in all leather that all collapse, to some extent at least, after drawing the gun. Making it difficult at best to reholster. I have no such problem with the hybrid style IWB.
I also had one from JMG that had a single clip on a leather extension behind the gun like bottom right in the picture. My XD40 SC kept twisting forward, and down. I sent it back, and had another clip added on a flap on the front. It held in place better, but still wasn't near as comfortable, or easy to reholster as my Theis Hibrid IWB.
