Well, I can't help you with the Magnaport decision, but I can show you a pic of what you 25 might look like afterwards.
This is a 25-2 .45acp conversion by John Jovino. I think these were done in the 70's, but I'm not sure. I think they were called the Effector. The barrel was cut to 2 3/4",the target trigger was smoothed, a ball-detent lock up was added, and the grip was trimmed down to a K/L size. ( A side note on the grips-the pachmayr compacts fit great and feel great, but if you want wood grips they'll fit a little funny. The wood at the top of the grip won't quite cover all of the frame to the backstrap like it would on a standard N frame. At least with the wood grips I have right now, that's what happens. It's no big deal, but something to consider. I happen to like pachmarys so it doesn't bother me.)
I love mine and it's a great shooter. I'm looking for a holster, but when I find the right one I'm gonna use it as my main carry piece. Well, I'll give it a shot as it's still a big honkin' gun.
I have seen some of these on gunsamerica for sale in .45 colt, .44 spl, and .45acp. by custom gunsmiths like Lew Horton, Jovino, and Austin Belhert(sp). If you don't have alot of cash tied up in your 25 I think it'd be a fun project, but you might find one cheaper on a gun forum somewhere. Hope this helps.
