Custom rifle stock - stock sizing?

Are there any templates/guidelines available to assist a person in determining what the appropriate measurements they should have/look for in an appropriately fitting rifle stock?

The reason I ask is that fitment came up today in a side BS session regarding a TC with a sholder stock and rifle barrel. On the gun in question, particular care was needed to avoid literally sticking the shooter's face on the hammer - it appeared almost to be a youth butt stock.

It got me to thinking, I normally have to take a concious thought to not crowd the front of my hunting rifles and I wonder now if fitment/size is an issue. I'm not a small person - 6'-4"/250lbs and arm reach to match. So I'm wondering now how different the pull on a stock fitted to me would be compared to the 'off the shelf' stocks.

In general, the larger you are, the longer the length of pull needs to be to fit properly. "Standard" LOP is 13-3/4" or so, works OK for 80% of people. I am 6'4", 220 lbs, and I shoot a 14" LOP rifle, 14-1/2" for shotgun. LOP can be estimated by measuring between the points of your shoulder and dividing by 2, holding the gun by the pistol grip and the butt should reach the crook of you elbow, measuring from the tip of your nose to your shoulder and add 1", many ways to estimate it. The only way to get it absolutely right is to be fitted by someone who knows how.
