Custom revolver cylinder - need one made

I'm currently working on revolver project that would be ideally based on a S&W K frame. My goal is shot a cartridge that is similar in ever respect to a 32 S&W Long, but is necked down to .308, rather than .314.


I know its possible to change the barrel to .308, however finding a cylinder is my current challenge.

Does anyone know of a smith or machinist who creates custom size cylinders?

1 option: I could sleeve a 38special cylinder, but that is not my first choice.

** I am willing to forgo a K frame, even a Smith if someone produces custom cylinders for a Ruger GP100,



Why am I doing this:
In Canada, 32 and 25 calibre are prohibited calibers in handguns, unless exempt for target shooting (pistols Like a Walther GSP, Hammeri 280, etc... are exempt).

A 30 carbine, is allowed in a handgun. Hence why I'm looking at a 32 S&W Long, sized down to 308.

My goal is to respect the law,

Try Gary Reeder. He's a gunsmith who's developed several necked down wildcat revolver cartridges. He ought to at least tell you if your project is feasible.

BTW, I understand .32 and .25 caliber handguns may be illegal in Canada, but what's wrong with and/or illegal about the standard .38/.357 k-frame?

There is nothing wrong or ilegal with a 38spl/357 in Canada. I currently have a Model 14-3, and love it. I just want something different. I shoot a Pardini HP in 32 S&W long as its expemted.

I don't know of any gunsmith capable of making a revolver cylinder. You might try Cylinder and Slide (www.cylinder-slide.com) and see what they say, and also about exporting the cylinder which would be a controlled part.

I wonder what exactly what the law says. If it specifically bans .32 calliber, then .30 would be OK. If it bans anything under .38 but exempts the .30 Carbine by name, then your cartridge would be illegal since it is not a .30 Carbine cartridge.
 
Plan A: Rechamber a K22 cylinder.
Plan B: Hamilton Bowen says they are getting in short supply so: "we're working to produce a long-body K-frame S&W cylinder which we can utilize not only for the .327 but also the .32-20, .218 Bee, .25-20 and .256."

Maybe he would do you one in .30.
