I find myself aquiring more revolvers of late and need some ideas for grips. Nice revolvers do better with wood. What are some of your favorite grips? Web sites are always appreciated. Thanks.
you can also www.pistolgrips.com..I'm getting a S&W M5 .50 cal and looking to get some Badger rosewood grips..they have a pair with ivory diamonds that caught my eye
I have found that the grips I really like are Hogue Monogrips. On the stainless guns I prefer rubber, simply because of the durability/price factor. On the blue guns I like wood. I've found that the fingergrooves and palm swell fits me perfectly. Of course this might not be the case for you, so try them first.
The Hogue Website is a good one for ordering, but the best deals seem to be in used grips at gunshows. I always ask what's behind the table with the parts swappers. I actually found the new Hogues below on a dealer's rack marked down to $30. I bought immediately.
I like Herrett's Stocks in Twin Falls, Idaho, www.herrett-stocks.com
They have been around for a long, long, time. Read the book "No Second Place Winner" by Bill Jordan. He talks about Herrett's Stocks.
They custom make the stocks to fit your hand. No thing short of pure excellence!!
If you have S&W revolvers you are looking for grips for, contact "Hammerdown" from the S&W Forum. His e-mail is "Nkvogler at aol dot com"
He takes a set of stock S&W grips and refinishes them with an ultra high gloss finish that will be the nicest you've ever seen. I've done a few holster sales, trades and purchases from him in the past, but recently got a set of smooth target grips for my 629. They look so nice I'm going to have to polish my revolver up to make it look half as good as the grips do.
Here's a link to a pic of a set of grips he refinished:
