My father has been a cop for thirty five years and just retired back in May, 2011. When he retired; he was given the GLOCK 19 he carried as a cop from the last agency. He's been with a four different agencies through his thirty five years and I had ZipGravers do a custom job on the slide of the retirement gun.

My one and only thing is I should have had the patches done in chronological order but hey... even though they are the thing still looks awesome!

Check it out!

Is that actually engraving or more like etching of the surface finish? Engraving cuts a small bit of metal right out of the gun.

The reason I ask is that I thought the "Tennifer" finish on Glocks was a very hard finish, hard to even file through. Am I wrong?

If you go to the "Zipgravers" web site (where the OP had the work done), they have some other pictures of engraved Glocks, and state that the work was done with a rotating diamond cutter. As such, I imaging they're cutting through the surface finish and down into the actual slide metal.

Fantastic! I'm planning on doing the same thing for my dad with a Beretta 96 (his duty gun before retirement) when I have the money.

Amazing.

My father is also a recent retire from LE. I surprised him with a custom done shadow box with his first pistol used on duty, badge, hiring picture/ID, and several accommodations, along with gold name plate and the nickname he was known by on duty.

The slide is killer.
