Custom cases - Post pics, discuss value

I spent a ton of money on a Pelican case for my AR and then customized the inside. Odd that this is basically a battle rifle meant to drag through the mud and then use it to club the enemy. There is something about a nice custom case which is style over substance.
The two wood cases are easy/quick pine boxes I made. I added a pic of an Airsoft case for reference.

Does anybody else share a love for gun cases? Who cares if a cheap case or potato sack would work just as well.

To me it's like opening up a present on x-mas morning. The ruger case isn't done yet. I have to add hinges and then beat it up to make it look older.

No expensive ones. I do have a boatload of those cheap cloth ones though. I try to keep a rifle and a pistol pouch in my car at all times because you never know when you'll find a deal. But it seems that I keep forgetting to put the pouch back in the car, so I end up buying another one anyway. :D

OP you outta take some separate pics so we can see better what we are looking at. Looks like there is potentially some good looking stuff there, but I can't make it out.
Flight, that's a pretty cool case I may look into something like that.

The only custom case I have seen first hand is my cousin's rednecked case. He fashioned it out of an old DeWalt cordless drill case and a couple chunks of foam. Its a pretty funny story, he bought the gun for HD reasons and his wife threw a fit. He know has a trigger lock on it, then a lock on the case and the case up on a tall cabinet that he has to use a chair to get. Boy, i hope he never needs to actually USE that revolver for its intended purpose...

Anyway, I didn't know you could actually do them up classy like you guys did.. :D

I do like nice cases too.

While not hard cases, I'd consider these custom....no longer produced, Boyt leather rifle & shotgun cases. Fleece lined and heavy zippers.

Hobby Lobby has a ton of fake books in various sizes,,,
I bought one last week to see if I can adapt it as a gun hider.

I just wanted to bump this back to the top.

I did a whole 'how to' on a Pelican case a while back, using my small case and my P-22

I like Pelican; my firearms cost money and if there's a car accident or some other unforeseen accident, the cases are money well spent

Not for long-term storage though; this foam doesn't really keep moisture and it doesn't react with gun oils, but for long term storage you want very particular closed cell foam
