Custom AR-15

I have recently purchased a Bushmaster XM15 E2S rifle with a 20" barrel. Now I want to customize it! I have always liked assult rifles, but this is the first I've ever owned. Any comments or suggestions on brands, functionality, or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated!!!

Do you want to customize it for looks or function?
If you plan on shooting your rifle, put your first $ into a decent trigger (JP, if you're not shooting DCM/CMP/ Hi-power or Jewell if you are).
Pistol caliber uppers and rimfire conversions are nice and functional.
I'm not much into the "hang all the crap" on the handguard, laser/Surefire/RIS scene, so I can't help you there.

Have fun!

you have a nice 22 TARGET rifle there.
(real assault rifles are full auto)

i would get it a colt 4 power carry handle scope
and an aimpoint on a ARMs 39 mount
both remount to zero nicely

a dewey rod & a bore guide are nice

You might want to buy a few thousand rounds of ammo.
Thats the main required accessory!

For functional customization I agree with Nukem. The trigger is first, immediately followed by a free float tube. Then you can work on sighting systems (new aperature and post, red dot, ACOG or scope) etc.

I also like to add a bipod. It just depends on what you want in the end. I decided I had to have two (or you could do the same thing with two uppers and one lower). One is a 20" long range precision rifle...

...the other is a Bushmaster shorty flattop that will get a C-more tactical dot sight as soon as I get the bucks.

Thanks!!!

Nukem & Mikey

Thanks for the advice on the trigger job! Function over looks is the way I want to go on this one. I will probably do the same as Mikey and invest in a second one (for looks) after I'm finished customizing this one. Nukem: Where can I get info on JP & Jewell trigger jobs???

Thanks for correcting me, I agree with you 110%. Assult rifles are FULL AUTO!!! ;)

You can call JP direct @ 651-486-9064 and look on AR15.com for Georgia Precision Shooters supply for the Jewell. If you're not handy JP will install for you, but it's not very hard really, I'm just getting ready do do my thrid one of my own. I've done a few Jewells too.
