custom 58?

I came across a model 58 at a local gun store. Just wondering what everyone else here thought about it. It had a 10 1/8" barrel, and adjustable sights on it, as well as some rubber grips. They wanted $565 for it. Wouldn't it have been easier to just get a 8 3/8" 57?

Hmmm....custom silhouette gun. Or hunter. Don't think it would be worth that much money except to the very few who liked it.

Wouldn't be able to run in production class in anything.

Strange indeed. Hope I don't run into one like that. I hate it when wierd iterations follow me home.

Agree, with that kind of money invested, why not spend a couple more bucks and get the finish of the 57.

Sam, I also thought of silhouette shooting when I saw it. I forgot to mention that it was ported also. Someone definately has a lot of money into that gun. I can't see many people being interested in it. I wasn't.

Couldn't have been an S&W barrel, unless an employee decided to make his own play toy...

Was it stamped Model 58 in the yoke cut?

Mike, to tell the truth, I had no desire to look. It was a .41, and the tag was labeled 58 Custom under model. The barrel was an aftermarket part, and wasn't round (6 flat sides).
