For those who have not yet heard TC plans to make a public announcement in the next couple months or so that the current production Contenders are being discontinued and a newer model will be introduced in a year or so that basically matches the Encore internally...a couple of the more obvious changes will be;
#1....you will no longer be able to adjust the Contender trigger on your own with the two screws that are now in the trigger assy., like the Encore the new model will not have them. As a past owner of both (I traded off my 7mm08 Encore) I sincerly hope the triggers on the newer model will have a better "out of the box" trigger than the current Encores.
#2....on the newer model you will not have to reopen the action after cocking and lowering the hammer, all you'll have to do is just pull the hammer rearward to recock it.
I have no need for another Contender frame so I'll not purchase one of the new "redesigned" ones but for those of you who are like me and like the function of the current model and have been kicking around getting another frame, this might be the time to do it.
