Current good movies - theaters and new releases - NOT favorite movies from past

I'd like if possible to have this non-gun thread (well, there surely are some guns in these movies). Just a thread on what's worth seeing now and what's not. I personally rented two movies this week and enjoyed both immmensely:

1. The Talented Mr. Ripley (excellent and really suspenseful - probably a top 20 all-time favorite).
2. American Beauty (weird but I really liked it)

So, what else is good? Have Gladiator, Patriot, and Me & Irene on theater list. Looking at Fight Club, Bone Collector, The Insider, and a few others at the video store....Any I should pass on? Life's too short to watch stupid movies - and who better to lend me their thoughts than my TFL buddies?

Oh yeah, and if you haven't seen it and like silliness, Office Space is a howl.

love story in the PAtriot makes for the women enjoyment, but I really liked the PAtriot. Eyes welled up a couple of times.

FIGHT CLUB IS A COOL MIND GAME. TESTOSTERONE LEVELS = MAXIMUM. You may want to go out and get into a good old fashioned bar fight when it is over!

The Patriot is, of course, excellent.
U-571 is good.
Gladiator is very good, though it could have been better with a better ending.
Frequency is a very good movie.

Really liked PITCH BLACK,alot like an ozzie version of aliens with plenty of twists and turns and the coolest movie bad guy(Vin Diesel) I have seen in a long time.
P.S. Not alot of firearms but watch out for the personal grooming tool!!

Oldie but goodies: "Meet the Feebles". Make sure you get the original, uncut version. Lovely cameo of an M60 used by...won't give it away. Sick, funny, mindboggling.

Gladiator is a MUST SEE. And I thought the ending was just about right, myself.

So is The Patriot (though I haven't taken care of that yet).

Also heard good things about U-571 from some former submariners.

Depending on how old you are, American Pie might appeal as a laugh-your-arse-off comedy. For a point of reference, I'm 31, and I related to that movie maybe a little TOO much! :D

Hey, is MI-2 good plot AND action, or is it like the first one, good action, but impossible-to-follow plot? Oh, yeah, U571 rocks!
