Curious about my S&W 617

Hello guys! I'm curious if anyone can identify the year of my smith 617, I've had it for about a year (got it in a trade) and it has moved its way up the list to probably my favorite handgun to shoot!

What I know:
- Model 617 22lr 6 shot
- "no dash" 4inch barrel
- Factory wooden combat grips
- The cylinder seems to have a "V" on it, not sure for what? it's on the side you load the rounds in. could possibly be a wear mark or dry fire marking from previous owners

On the frame with the cylinder open it's marked "BEU0835", below that it's marked MOD 617

I haven't taken the grips off to see if their's anything else I missed.

Nope - the "v" means that it's a stainless steel gun...

If you happen to have it’s original cardboard box... there is a born-on specific to the day on the end label of the box.

I wish I had the box! the previous owner no longer had it unfortunately.
