Curios and Relics

I've been debating applying for a C&R license. Is it worth it? Does the trouble of dealing with the feds one-to-one outwiegh the hassle of having to buy guns through a third-party FFL dealer? On one hand I'd like to be able o go on the Empire Arms website and order a couple of Mararovs at will, bt on the other hand the paranoid, anti-bureacracy side of me things it might be better to just pay a local dealer the 10-20% fee and have him do it for me. Any thoughts?

Hemlock:

I've had my C&R for over two years and it is great. Just the other day I bought a pistol at a local gunshop. Once I got my Michigan required permit to purchase, I handed it, with my C&R and check over and got the pistol.

You can get great stuff through interstate commerce with the C&R. You can get on dealer mailing lists and pay dealer prices on the C&R guns.

Dealing with the Feds one on one? The only delaing is the time you send them the application and check. Every now and then you get the FFL newsletter. Yep, you have to keep a bound book, but thats no biggie.
I've never heard of a C&R holder getting inspected. Don't worry, get the license and enjoy your collectables!

hemlock,

FWIW, check out my thread (Serial #'s and the NICS) from April 9th, on why it just might be a good idea to get a C&R.
Feel free to e-mail me...
Good luck.

What types of guns and other products fall under the C&R license? What are the major benefits of having this license?

The ATF had listed on their site all the weapons you could get with a C&R. It is rather long!
I would love to get one but have to wait due to my constant moving. (I understand you have to file new paperwork evertime to correct your license).
I think it's one of the few good deals left.

Hemlock - I just acquired my C&R a month or so ago. I wish I had done so MUCH earlier!

Next week I'll be receiving a Garand I ordered from Orion 7. Shipped direct to my door step. No NICS, no DROS (CA stuff) and no FFL transfer fee.

You also qualify for a trade discount from Brownells. Last night I ordered about $70.00 worth of stuff from them that would have run me over $90.00 at their regulat retail.

IMO, it's well worth it.

Whats the hash about atf and gun control. In countries where guns and swords are illegal; the little kids hide big scimitars under their beds to feel like a man, and use bombs that kill 400 people per blast and destroy whole blocks. Was colorado a foretaste of things to come; it is only what is happening in other countries where guns and knives are outlawed.

Bombs are so much easier to make and so much worse. It is better to deviate a would be mass murderer to a simple small gun device than start thinking of bombs and what not.

In India, the boys spray battery acid on peoples faces and in the middle east, the boys stab with little daggers. In both places, they blow big bombs up all the time; the reason american outsiders get killed is nothing new in those countries, they have been killing themselves for millenia.

I personally cannot tell you how to control bad folk wherever they exist. I really do not have the answer you seek.

I have held one for several years now and I will say it was worth the time and money spent on getting it

If you intend to do so you won't regret it
