First of all, hello to you all, this is my first
posting here and i am new to the website.

I was just watching cspan and they were
televising the conference of mayors. The
topic was gun violence. Mayor Scott King
of Gary Indiana who was a part of
their "gun violence" panel was answering
a question from another mayor and he stated that there was a need for the
judicial system to address and/or modernize
the second amendment. He stated that he
was not very familiar with the second amendment and that when it was written, it
addressed the right for people to own muskets, in order to defeat an oppresive
army. But today is something different for
the mayor, since firearms are more modern.

While I dont live in Gary ind, I just wanted
to pass along the info for anyone here who
lives under this man's city. I find it a little
puzzling that a public official can be so unfamiliar with one if any of the amendments.

I think it works like this-
Muskets- defend against muskets,
Whatever weve got- against whatever theyve got

"Those that give up essential liberties for a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."
Don't piss down my back and tell me it's raining.

Sounds like a liar to me. His staff would bring him up to par on a subject that he was going to talk about. But then, he, along with so many of our politicians don't care about the Bill of Rights. To them it only interferes with their global agenda.
Welcome to this sight--it is a very great place to learn and inform others at the same time.
