Crush washers?

To TFL's resident smiths.... or anyone who may have a spare or two they don't mind parting with.

Need a 5/8" ID disc spring washer to time a muzzle brake on a rifle. Internet searches not yielding much fruit. Only ones I can find are 1.25" OD, and the ones I am looking for have the .813" OD.

Or a source to get them would help, too?? Can't remember if there is another post about this or not.

This says it is 5/8" ID but does not specify OD. Looks quite a bit smaller than 1.25" if the ID is really 5/8".

You may want to check with the people that made your brake.
I know Gentry & Quiet brakes list crush washers on their sites.

5/8 ID crush washers and 5/8x.812 muzzle brake alignment shim washer

Belleville washer or peel washer. Both are MUCH better than crush washers.

MarkCO, thank you. My thoughts exactly. Crush washer may not buckle or deform enough to get the timing right. I can always make a jig with the 5/8 threads and clamp it on the jig and turn the OD down a bit to get what I want.
