Crossbreed review

I got my Crossbreed yesterday This will act as a short review, and in a few weeks I'll up date it as I wear it more. I will wear this everyday.

Shipping was right on time, I didnt count days but Id say two weeks from order to delivery was about right, being made to order and given the current climate Id say thats pretty darn good.

First thoughts; looks good overall. Good finish. All the cuts on the leather are fairly smooth, the plastic is smooth also, no ruff edges. Im carrying a Glock27, the retention is nice, not super tight nor loose. A note is included on how to tighten the retention if needed, which seems very easy to do, or I can send it back and have it done for free..nice.The gun holds well. Horse hide is used on mine, due to my climate. The hide has a even thickness, no high spots or dips.

Played around with the different setting for the belt clips, mine came with the standard metal clips. There are 4 postions for each clip and you can really taylor the height the gun rides in and the angle.

Im wearing it in the 430ish postion and I can hardly feel it. Its also set pretty low. Im 6'2" and 195-200lbs. With a lrg t-shirt it is all but gone! The only thing that shows it the slightest bump from the mag extion on the glock, should I use the std mags there isnt any bump. No one will notice this, theres no way. I havent played with the shirt tuck yet, just a tee tucked in. It will take a few seconds to get it tucked, but with a golf shirt or so then gun should be well concealed. Ive worn this for 8 or so hours, the hide is already starting to shape to body, which will further add to the fit and concealment.

As for now it gets a 10/10. I wish I would have thought of the design, nice job. This may or may not be matter to some, but being that Crossbreed is a Christian company and points. There isnt anything wrong with owning a business and making a honest profit. And from what I can tell from the product and literature they are on track!

Ive owned a few different holsters and this oneis on top, they all do something well. From comfort, concealment, retention, or over all finish...but this one seems to do them all.

I think you'll like it. I carry a G33 in mine. I'm always reading stories of people having boxes of holsters under the bed before they find one they like. I bought Crossbreed Supertuck first, and I see no reason to buy anything else. My only gripe, and I'm sure it common among all holsters, is that it's not terribly comfortable in direct skin contact in very warm weather. I usually wear a t-shirt between it and my skin anyway so it's a minor issue. The fact that they are a Christian company is a big plus for me, I still wouldn't use their product if it was junk but all else more or less equal I'll buy from a Christian.

Nice review. Thanks. I will only carry IWB in a Crossbreed SuperTuck. Everything else I've tried has not done what my SuperTucks can do (including the venerable Milt Sparks VMII). Works for me

I have a Crossbreed in horsehide for my Sig P239, and it is an excellent holster. I did a lot of reading, and got it as my first holster. It was absolutely the right choice. Since I can't carry at work it is relegated to night and weekend duty, but I nearly forget I am wearing a gun when I have it on. I can conceal in shorts and a t-shirt no problem.

I did order a Milt Sparks VMII for my new DW Bobtail last month, so it should be here by October, hopefully. That will be perfect timing for cooler weather carry of the larger 1911 for this area, but if I don't like the VMII I will probably order another Crossbreed Supertuck. It's a great all-around holster. I do wish they would do like the C-Tac Minotaur where you could buy different Kydex "bodies" for different gun models.

I've been wearing one for a few months now(horsehide for full size M&P9).

By far the most comfortable IWB holster i've ever tried.

Only complaints...

Mine could use a little more retention. It's not terrible when being worn but i would prefer a little more.I'm affraid to fool with the kydex myself...might send it back for them to work on(didnt know they'd do it for free).

Usually takes me several minutes of fumbling to get it on and properly adjusted.

Minor gripes really...

Jermtheory... did you get the note on how to adjust the retention? PM me with a email and Ill scan it for you, super simple and works great, you can make it tighter or loosen it up.

Using a hairdryer and wet rags?

Yeah,i got it.

I'm just affraid i'd do more harm than good.I'll do my own trigger jobs...but the kydex thing seems more art than science/mechanics to me.

I appreciate the offer though.I've considered giving it a go.I actually started to one night...but i was too reticent and didnt get it hot enough i dont think.

I have to agree. I'm glad I found Crossbreed. I carry a Commander length 1911 in mine and it melts into my body and disappears. And its comfortable - as comfortable to me as a good OWB holster.

RMD

I had a Crossbreed for my XD40SC it was a great holster. Only problem I had was the weight of the loaded XD.
Comp-Tach makes a good IWB also

thanks for the good reviews in this thread. i've had my eye on one of these, but i have a couple questions first.

is the combat grip option worth it? where they trim some backing away from the grip? does it really make for a faster draw? and since i carry in GA year round, and it's quite hot, would horsehide make a significant difference?

it's not really the cost of the options as much as i dont want it if it's not beneficial. thanks in advance for advice!

I would definately go with the horsehide down in GA.I dont know how much better it would hold up...but every little bit could help.

From what i hear it handles moisture much better.

The "combat grip" would be easy to do yourself. But it is a rather cheap add-on($5?).

i am a purebred fan myself. i own large size airedales, best damn dogs in the world. with one of them by your side your don't need a holster :)

If I had to reorder all my SuperTucks, I would opt for the combat grip option. My spare tire :o means I have to push the leather away a bit to get a good grip on the gun. Not a deal breaker though, since with practice, I've got a decent draw now. I carry around 3:30, BTW.

Thanks for the tip Jestir. Sounds like you and I share the same body type! :D So I think I will go with that option.
