Crosman 1377 Air Pistol- Hard to Pump?

ronto

I received the NIB 1377 a few days ago and wow, is this airgun hard to pump. I don't see how a kid could pump it. I regularly curl 30 lbs so I'm not a weakling.

So it must be the "technique" I'm missing. The method shown in the owners manual doesn't seem to make pumping any easier and I really have to struggle even on the first pump.

What pumping "technique" do you use and is this normal for the 1377?

Thank you for the input.

There is a whole world of 1377 lovers, haters, users and modifiers out there. Writings by "B.B. Pelletier"... aka Tom Gaylord, via the Pyramyd Air Report is another place to look.

I don't think of it as being hard to pump, but I suppose it's not super easy.

If you pump it all the way up every time that would get pretty tiring--I usually shoot mine at 4 or 5 pumps when I'm just punching paper.

I usually only pump it twice, so it's not a big deal.

Is it properly oiled?

It sounds like maybe a spring piston or CO2 air pistol might work out better for you.
