Can't help the OP about the different models of CT grips for the smith revolvers, but I put on the small Bantam like ones on my Smith 19 snubbie.
They came in the larger one and the smaller exposed backstrap and bottom grip frame model.
I really like the grips, and even prefer the grips when the laser is not being used.
Like others said, the laser is not very visible during bright sunlight, and I use iron sights for most daylight shooting.
But took it out to the woods the other evening at dusk for some practice and gotta love that red glowing dot! Couldn't see the sights, but the dot was where the gun pointed.
I have checked out the point of impact difference and it was sufficient for SD
senarios.
It only comes on when you have the proper grip, so you can control the light by your grip pressure, so any arguments that it gives you away is a moot point. It's on when you want.
IT'S THE ONLY GUN WITH THE CT grips that I have, but I would put them on all my guns if they made grips that I liked. Most are big and clunky and they don't make them for many of the ones I own.
Hope that helps in your deciding.
If a laser is a crutch, then I guess all the top national bullseye shooters who use red dots are using crutches too to shoot those national records.
It's just another tools to add.
