Crimson Trace grips

I'm thinking seriously about purchasing laser grips for my and my wife's S&W 642 Airweights. In looking around at both the LG 105 and the LG 405 say they are for my pistols. What is the difference in them and any other info on each?

I believe the 105s to be longer than the 405s, but I could be wrong. The 405s are listed as "compact" on the CT site while the 105s aren't. In pictures, they look more like boot grips while the 105 looks full-size.

I have shot a Model 60 with the 105 and it was very easy to use and helped with accurate shooting greatly indoors. I was able to get all three fingers on the grip, and I normally can not do that on a J.

My only concern would be becoming reliant on the laser, and then when you can't see it or it doesn't work, being ineffective with the gun.

Hmm looking closer, both seem to expose the bottom of the backstrap, so the height can't be different. Somehow the 405 just looks more compact though. It may be a little thicker?

Can't help the OP about the different models of CT grips for the smith revolvers, but I put on the small Bantam like ones on my Smith 19 snubbie.
They came in the larger one and the smaller exposed backstrap and bottom grip frame model.

I really like the grips, and even prefer the grips when the laser is not being used.
Like others said, the laser is not very visible during bright sunlight, and I use iron sights for most daylight shooting.
But took it out to the woods the other evening at dusk for some practice and gotta love that red glowing dot! Couldn't see the sights, but the dot was where the gun pointed.

I have checked out the point of impact difference and it was sufficient for SD
senarios.
It only comes on when you have the proper grip, so you can control the light by your grip pressure, so any arguments that it gives you away is a moot point. It's on when you want.

IT'S THE ONLY GUN WITH THE CT grips that I have, but I would put them on all my guns if they made grips that I liked. Most are big and clunky and they don't make them for many of the ones I own.

Hope that helps in your deciding.

If a laser is a crutch, then I guess all the top national bullseye shooters who use red dots are using crutches too to shoot those national records.
It's just another tools to add.
