Crimping for .45 ACP Bayou Coated bullets

I may've miscalculated, but just picked up some funky Bayou roundnoses, which I notice have a cannelure. I thought these used the same load data as a jacketed round but more importantly, do I crimp these differently than, say, Berry's plated bullets? I think the stuff that looks like alligator snot (they're green) slicks everything up so I don't have to lube, but was wondering how to deal with the canelure. Do they need to be roll crimped?

I can only assume without a pic, but I bet its a lube groove. Coated bullets still usually have a lube groove from the cast mold. It is not needed, but its there, so ignore it. But show a pic and ill tell you for sure. Or just a link

That's not a cannelure, it's a lube groove.
No roll crimp for .45 auto. Light taper crimp or no crimp (just remove the flair). .45 acp headspaces (comes to rest) on the case mouth. Too much crimp can cause ignition problems.
The only time you would roll crimp .45 auto is if you were using a revolver, even then a taper crimp would be fine.
I use lead data with powder coated bullets.

Yes that's a lube groove. Don't crimp into that, it would be way too long. You can put a mild crimp where the round nose stops into the shoulder, but really light. But really, you just wanna take the flare out of the case, the big lead bullet will have plenty of tension. But load to the shoulder, not the big groove

Thanks, I thought that was the case (bad joke). I've looked at lube grooves on other pre-lubed bullets and wondered how the lube actually made contact with the case during the loading operation.

Just loaded one up. My Berry's plated bullet, with it's .640 length, created the same 1.271 length cartridge as my Bayou bullet, which is .781 in length. That means it's stickin' more of the base into the cartridge, right? Higher pressure?

I loaded the Bayou with roughly .055 of the shoulder sticking out above the case mouth.

Sorry for the newb questions; mistakes can be fatal and I've never loaded lead before.
