Criminals love gun control

With people like Chuck Shummer, Diane Finestien, Sara Brady, and Metsumbaum in office, and on the anti-gun warpath, I am sure that they could win one block of votes every election they would run in.

Those people are the preditors of this nation, those who make there living off the hard working and productive work of the honest American Citizen, the criminals.

Because the preditors of this country know that as long as there are laws resricting or forbiding the private ownership of firearms, the city belongs to them.

And it is just 1st grade level logic, invade a home owned by a gun owner, take a risk of having an extra hole added to your body, I am
convinced beyond the shadow of a doubt if my wife's attacker knew that she had a firearm, he would have moved on to another house, and
some other lady would have fallen victim to his violent attack.

Invade a home owned by a non-gun owner, and you have a green light to do whatever that twisted mind can dredge up from the blackest corner of the mind.

When ever our government figures out that you can't legislate crime out of existence this country will turn crime upside down and slap it around, and that laws are good for laying down punishment, not deterence, our prisons are full of scum that thought they could not get cought.

And remember, a handgun gives the holder a level of power over the rest of the non-owning population, and power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. :(

The sad thing is that the thrust of your argument was established a dozen years back: The Univ. of Fla. Press published "Under The Gun", by Wright, Rossi and Daly. (Parenthetically, they began their statistical surveys as mildly anti-gun, to neutral.)

The primary conclusion was that no gun control law could be shown to have reduced crime. No law, of whatever sort.

Interviews with prisoners at Florida's Raiford Penitentiary indicated that if handguns were "magicked" out of existence, long guns and hacksaws would be subsituted. Now, of those shot with handguns, 1/3 die and 2/3 live. Of those shot with long guns, 2/3 die and 1/3 live. Ergo, if there were no handguns, the death rate from firearms violence would increase.

Chris, I'm sure you're still in an emotionally charged state over the attack on your wife. However, when and if you're ready,
your story could make for a very good column/
guest editorial that might be published in several papers. If and when you reach that point, there are many on this board who I'm sure would be willing to help you write it.
Please keep that in mind, and accept our continuing prayers for a resolution of your wife's traumatic experience.

Sure Dick, I would love to write a piece for
a magazine or newsletter or any other form of communicated word.

You are right Art, the source materals I used in writing that post were dated back a few years.

I just think if the American public were to know that if you are unable to protect yourself you are seting yourself up for a fall. and if you think it will never happen to you, you are a fool.

Chris,

Ummm....Errrrr....excuse me but...

If you are referring to Sen Metzenbaum from Ohio, he has been out of office for years! Our two current US Senators are Voinovich and Dewine. Our current Governor is Bob Taft. All three are wishy-washy on the gun rights issue. Voinovich is the bigger anti-, while Dewine and Taft are going against their campagn promises and are aligning themselves with increasingly anti-gun ideals.

We just got back a personal reply from the Governor that stated that he is a supporter of 2nd amendment rights, but at the same time he wants mandatory trigger locks, etc., etc., etc. Talk about speaking out of both sides of his mouth!

These guys need a dose of who put them into office in the first place. I kind of like the thread about 'window wars' elsewhere in TFL.

Remember, just because you are not paranoid doesn't mean they are not out to get you!

The names were just an example of an embracing attitude towards gun control that was felt by the above listed office holders.

Regardless who holds office now, that was not the point, I said people LIKE Shummer and Metzenbalm.

The fact still remains that there are still too many of our capital hill people that are thinking like these embarassments did, or do.

Now what about telling me what you thought about the rest of my post ;)
