Crime finds my family

I got a call from my parents today. While they were out behind the garage working in their garden, someone walked into their house through the unlocked back door and made off with my Moms wedding ring,a diamond ring and her wallet which contained a small amount of cash a credit card and her social security card. They left through the front door.Luckily none of my Dads guns were missing. The police estimate the perp was in the house no more then 1 minute.I am thanking God that neither of my parents walked in on the bg.They are both in their mid 60`s and in no shape to get into a physical confrontation.

They have already reported the credit card stolen and determined that no keys are missing. They have also been in contact with ADT and are having an alarm system installed though I don`t see how an alarm would have prevented this situation since they practically invited the bad guy in.

They are feeling very violated at the moment.Does anyone have any post event advice to offer?

Oh man!
They were lucky! I'm glad they didn't have to confront the thief. The same thing happened to my wife's parents. Out in the back yard, all doors unlocked and some no good comes in the front door and steels wedding rings. It's a pisser, but nothing else will probably come from it.
I'm glad they are OK.

Boy! Thank God whoever it was, was not appairently intrested in doing your folks bodly harm!

I have had my own recent tragedy lately, my wife was attacked, and beaten up pretty badly, she was attacked as she slept, in our own home, while I was away.

Like I say, to own a gun is our right, to have that gun close to us at all times is an absolute nessesity.
