Crickett .22 & Crickett scope

Smoke & Recoil

Can anyone shoot consistent groups at 10 or 25 yards using
a Crickett .22, Crickett scope and CCI Quiet .22 ammo ?, I'm
having an awful time with grouping, I mostly get fliers within
a 12" diameter. All equipment is new. Suggestions ?

"Try some different ammo"

This. It's good advice. I've encountered a Remington 597 that shot horrible groups with the copper washed Federal ammo but shot nice tight groups with the bargain bin lead .22 ammo.

Since everything is new you might want to just check to make sure all the screws, nuts and bolts are snugged up, especially on the scope mount and stock take down screw ahead of the trigger guard. Stuff like checking the fit of the stock against the barrel can be done too but I'd shoot it more before I did that.

My 7 year old Granddaughter has a little pink Crickett and consistently hits bowling pins @ 40 yards with open sights. Like others have said, try some different ammo. Also, check to make sure the scope is tight.

Bought my grandson a Cricket for his first gun about 6 years ago. He was amazingly accurate with it using the open sights right out of the box. The little gun didn't seem to be fussy about what ammo we used.

Different ammo seem's to be the general consensus here, so I'll do that
route this next Monday. I'm setting this up for my 8 yrs old grandson for
Christmas morning. Right now he's using a Remington 510 single shot, but
he's just a little fella for his age and the Remington is to big for him.

no youtube for her, not yet anyway. those pix were a few years ago. she's moved up in rifle but not caliber. shoots my marlin mod 60 pretty good. she likes her P22 but has grown really fond of her LCR-22 lately.

Update,
I removed the Crickett scope and installed a BSA and that brought the
grouping down to 4" at 25 yards using the CCI Quiet .22 ammo. The next
time I'll switch to Federal long rifle ammo. I'll post that out-come also.

If I may ask a question,Have you tried with iron sights?

I do not have a Crickett,I have a couple of Chipmunks. The Irons are blade and crude receiver peep.

The 22 LR is unfired till my Son in Law decides the grandkids are ready.

The other is a22 WMR .I can't say I have shot it for groups, but it shoots well enough to be a lot of fun.

Fun= Hits

We took ours out today, it did alright.

JERRYS-how tall is your daughter? Mine wants to try shooting and I want to make sure whatever is used first is comfortable for her.

Thanks! My daughter is about 5' 4", so they're close. I also have two grandsons-but they're not quite 2 yet. I'm planning on picking up a Cricket, but probably not pink!

@ HiBC,

Yes, I tried the peep sight and shot smaller groups than with the scope at 10 yards, but I want to put the cool factor (scope) in this project for my grandson.

Hey, what kind of accuracy should I expect to get from a 16" barrel at 25 yards
anyway ?...anyone.

IMO,the barrel length of 16 in is not a major factor in the accuracy.
A good 22 handgun,like a High Standard,Ruger,Woodsman,S+W 41,etc,will put them in the 10 ring of a 25 yd target.
Iron sights.
Standing
One hand.
Not saying I shoot that good, but I have shot with folks who shot in the 290's,slow,timed,and rapid,10 shots each.
The GUN,with a 5 or 6 in bbl,would do it easy.
Raw opinion,no data:
It would surprise me if your Crickett could not shoot inside 2 in at 25 yds.Thats not asking much
