Creedmore Peep On Trapdoor Rifle

Has anyone ever mounted a Creedmore type tang sight on a trapdoor?

I have my 1884 Springfield 45-70 in the shop right now having a Pedersoli Long Range sight mounted along with a front globe sight.

The tang sight must be mounted to the stock far enough behind the hammer for clearance. Just wondering if I am going to have a problem with the sight coming loose...

Thanks in advance for your comments.

It'll work and won't come loose if both screws go into the tang. I had a set up like that on a Investarms Hawken I used the rear tang screw and drilled and tapped the tang for the front screw. It's good for target work but it sucks for hunting.

Unfortunately the tang doesnt extend far enough to pick up any holes on it. The sight is mounted directly to the wood. I guess I will just have to be super careful not to bump the sight and hope normal operating conditions don't loosen it.

Thanks

So I got the rifle from the shop last friday and took it for a test ride. The new sights work great. The only issue I had was sometimes the recoil pushed the tang sight into my thumb knuckle. All in all a good investment and should pay off at the range.
