CRAZY new pistol just spotted!!!

I went to a gun show this morning and saw a pistol that I have heard or seen nothing about. It was a polymer framed pistol made in Croatia (of all places). I think it was called the HS2000. It was very interesting and felt really nice in the hand. It had numerous intriguing features:
1) Glock-like frame
2) Glock-like trigger
3) Sig-like take-down lever
4) Sig 226 shaped barrel
5) Top of slide chamber loaded indicator like CZ97
6) Walther P99 type striker (where you can see the back of the striker from the hole in the rear of the slide)
7) And most interesting of all...a 1911 style grip safety!!!
8) The manual said it had a lifetime warranty
9) The manual also said it could be fired under water (up to 3m, I think)!
The gun came with a hard case, two chromed 10-round 9mm mags, cleaning kit, and a CD with some sort of info on it.
Price was $419.

Have any of you heard of this funky a$$ gun?????????

BTW, I'm not making this up.

Just read about it in Mays issue of Combat Handguns. The writer gave it a pretty good review if I recall. I thought it looked pretty interesting myself. :)

Happy Shooting :)

No, I didn't buy it. I've already been the guinea pig for a few guns that didn't live up to my expectations. Notably, the Steyr M40 and the ASAI Pro One .45. It'll be interesting to wait and see.

Sounds too good to be true! Hmm, I wonder what yesterday's date is famous for? ;)

You guys are thinking of the wrong gun. It's not the Spectre and its not the FN49(which was the gun in C.H. May issue). I'm not making it up and it wasn't an April Fool's joke. I also forgot to mention that it had what they called "oversized frame rails". It was definitely beefier than Glock or need I mention USP rails.

Saw this gun at The Wanenmacher Show in Tulsa, OK this past weekend. Dealer/owner had it on display, but not for sale. He claimed the maker has been sued by Glock for patent infringements, and either production or import has been stopped. Thus, it is potentially a collectable.

I saw an abomination that was made I think in Australia or Spain. It looked like a Beretta 92 with a Glock frame and Glock mags. It was very poorly made. If I see it again I migth buy it as it was only $ 150.oo for rarity 'sake.

Mylhouse, I know how you feel about Steyr M40, I bought a FN49. I can live with just about any handgun but this one lives in a safe. Neither my friends nor me could hit the broadest side of the biggest barn we could find. If it makes you feel any better the Steyr 40 was my second choice the day I opted for the FN 49:-)Regards, Richard.

Next monday or tuesday I will send you detailed information about Croatian new service pistol that you mentioned in your post.

I hope you will check your post next week.

Current issue of Combat Handguns has a review of the HS2000; it's on the cover along with I think the Wilson KZ. They gave it the usual garb, except they pointed out that it was "ugly".

It is ugly, but if you see and hold one, you'll find it somewhat intriguing. I did. If it works out, I may pick one up.

I had a chance to handle the HS2000 a few days ago. The frame does resemble a Glock and it did feel good in the hand but the slide was butt-ugly even if it resembled a Sig. The last straw for me was the price of $440, here in Southern Ca., that did scare me away.

Got a chance to handle one. Very interesting. Felt good in my hand. Has the glock trigger without the spongy feel and breaks very clean like a single action. Must squeeze the grip safety to get the slide back. Put together very well. Comes from Croatia I think. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but this would have to shoot awfully good to be a keeper. ;)
