In reading of tthe history of the U.S. cavalry (horsemen) where the cavalry troops used their handguns as both shooting weapons and when things really got close and personal, sometimes used their handguns to strike out at their enemy.

If things got that close and hairy, do you think your weapon of choice would hold up for both uses? Or would you prefer another weapon? or type of handgun?

Only thing that makes inoperable handgun better than a rock is handgun is already in hand.

If handgun is not inoperable (empty or broken), no excuse for using it as a striking weapon.

Primary wespon is the mind. Other implements are mearly tools.

Just keep in mind that the use of your handgun as a striking weapon would in many instances be considered the use of deadly force.

A very thin line between stopped and stopped dead when konkin someone.

I say, therefore, that if the gun is still functional.....shoot em.

what I was told was that for that kind of use, only the head is a viable target, and if your going to strike the skull you had better go for a killing blow.. which is easy enough with the skull anyways (knocking someone out with a blow to the head is something that takes great skill.. Hollywood to the contrary. you either hit not hard enough to do anything or you hit hard enough to kill)
