couples matching his/hers carry guns?

Been working on trying to find the girlfriend her perfect carry gun as she's wanting to get her CHL. After a couple months of her playing with/shooting a bunch of different types once she shot my Kahr P9, she loved the feel of it and shot very well with it. However she's on a little tighter budget and she wanted a stainless slide (cause it's prettier ) so I decided to find a CW9 for her to try. Well, after her shooting one today at the range she decided that was the one....so she bought it. And after shooting it myself next to my P9, I was quite impressed with their budget model CW9. It functioned 100%, just as accurate as the P9, trigger just as nice and just as comfortable to shoot. Hard to believe the CW9 cost just a little less than half my P9 (however my P9 came with night sights and 2 mags).

Anyways, enough about that back to the original question. Any other couples out there pretty much have matching carry guns?

well, despite the cynics who might at first thought poo-poo the idea of matching carry guns as some type of gun-nut romantic fluff, there may be some valid, practical reasoning behind it. magazines, holsters and accessories are likely to be interchangeable between the two, which might save you some money. also, if you two should even find yourselves in a serious firefight (unlikely, but possible and self defense is why we carry, right?) there would be an inherent familiarity with your partner's weapon, so should one person be injured and unable to engage, the other would be able to borrow their weapon to continue the fight. also - if they're the same caliber, that should simplify ammo purchasing and reloading, if so inclined. so yeah, go ahead and carry matching guns, why not?

but if you guys start wearing matching shoes, you're on your own.

My wife and I both have a Bersa Thunder .380. Hers was nickle and mine was blued. We both liked the idea of the two-tone, and I preferred a shiny slide on that gun. We took them to a smith and had him swap the slides, triggers, and controls. They're both slightly different than the factory two-tones, and sort of a matching pair.

Have friends who both have LCR's. I agree with the comment about having the same gun in common. You have common operation, mags, holsters, ammo and you know the firearm well in case you ever have the panic situation. I actually think it makes sense.

I thought it would be cool, so I bought a Colt Gov't .380 for my wife, my daily carry is a Gov't .45- seemed reasonable. Nope : too heavy. She purchased a KelTec.
NEVER try to pick a gun for someone else, else you might end up with an extra. Next, I think I'll get her a GP 100, then a S&W M&P.

my wife's name is bonnie so around our shooting fiiends we have been nic-named Bonnie and Clyde. would love to fined the old charter arms bonnie+clyde .32 .38 marked set.

I carry a Glock 23,she carries a Glock 27.Close but not exact.Mags.for reloads are 15 rounders from Glock 22's so at least we interchange there.

FWIW:

My wife and I have matching LWS32's, but after acquiring my LWS380 I cc it more now.

JoAnn finds no joy in shooting my LWS380, but she was so taken with my Ruger LCP that she had to have one for herself, and she can shoot it quite well..

For our needs the little Seecamps and Rugers fit the cc job quite nicely..:)

His/Hers

My wife and I have matching revolvers. She has a Smith & Wesson PD model 340 while I have the MP 340. These are light wt 357s. Her's is loaded with 38 hollow points and I have mine loaded with 357s. I also have a S&W 686 with 4 inch barrel another 357. We are new to handguns. Our thinking was we would never have to worry about ammo in an emergency. Enjoy.
