Couple of new revolvers

Got two new revolvers this week. First was a model 15. Originally it had a 2" barrel on it, but the seller had bought a 6" barrel and had it rebarreled locally. I have the 2" barrel with the shorter ejector if I ever feel the need to switch back. Cleaned it, took it out and shot it, and it's sweet.

The second is a model 17-3 in 8" barrel. Cylinder is beat up, and it is well used, but the bluing is good. I have a modern model 17 in 6", but couldn't pass this one up.

Each gun was $350.

A target sighted barrel is better in 6" vs 2" but at 6" 15 is not better than a 14.
A 17 in 8" should be more accurate than anything.

Good pair. Enjoy

Nice. The Model 17 has the full target hammer/trigger set-up. With an 8-inch barrel and a box or two of .22's, you could spend all day in the woods popping rodents. Or simply making steel targets ring out.

The 6-inch barrel looks to be from a Model 14 with the Patridge front sight. While the M15 lacks the target trigger/hammer of the Model 14, I wouldn't want to live off the difference in accuracy between the two at 25 yards.

I have a 4-inch and a 2-inch Model 15. The four inch and it's stainless cousin, a Model 67, will hold 1.5" groups at 25 yards with wadcutters. The two-inch is harder to shoot well, but will still work fine at 25 yards. It's not an ideal carry gun with a square butt and target sight. It balances too far to the rear too. This snubby makes almost no sense unless you carried a 4-inch Model 15 service revolver and wanted to stay with it.
