It's so you dont have to bend over and pick up the rabbit you just shot with it.
Nice looking gun, but bet it's loud with that short ported barrel.

I'm confused, I understand the differences between special purpose shotguns for the various shotgun sports. Also, different features are desirable for upland, waterfowl, buck shot and slug shotguns: Unless as a collection (arsenal in lawyer talk), are these three guns enough different that you'd select one over the other two depending on the nature of the bump-in-the-night?
It's my understanding that HD/tackie guns, like these, have been widely distributed at very competitive prices. Consequently, they have little value as collectors.

Was sort of on the lookout for a HD shotgun. The first one I bought was the Rem 870...which is before I did any research on shotguns (impulse buy). Finding out that the 870 Tactical is closer to the Express than the Police, I wanted a little more heavy duty shotgun. I then bought the 18.5 inch Mosseberg 590DA1, which is a double action and was shorter than the 870. I then saw the Mossberg 590A1 SPX which has several good features at a good price, so picked it up.
I may have too many now, don't know if I'll sell one or not. I gotta find out which one I like best.
I didn't get them to collect, just kept running into others that I liked. The 590DA1 is sort of an oddity with the double action, they don't offer it anymore.

I just put a 8 round mag extension on my 870 and am toying with further modifications. The 18" barrel JUST clears the extended tube. Maybe I'll get a night sight for it. Any suggestions?
