Could I have harmed my 92fs chamber?

Hi,

I just purchased a NIB Beretta 92fs INOX (stainless). I was cleaning the barrel (from the muzzle end) and when I was done I noticed some tiny little marks inside the chamber right at the muzzle end. When I clean, I know that I sometimes contact this area VERY lightly with the end of my rod on the way out. I think everyone does this sometimes, hard to help it. Is it possible that that light contact could have scratched or scraped the inside of my chamber, or are these tool marks. I didnt really look before, so they may have been there. Thanks.

Normally cleaning rods are made of non-ferrous metal, much softer than your bore. It is unlikely the rod caused the scratches. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

If anything, they could be scuff marks. If they are just in the chamber and not in the barrel, I wouldn't worry.

UPDATE!
This gets even more strange. Beretta makes a great pistol, but there is always a lemon out there. Allthough I will not hold this against the firearms company that I've trusted my life to in the Military at home and abroad.

I looked at every part of this pistol, and I found that there is a sharp gouge on the the slide rail in the slide itself. Its so sharp it catches flannel from my patch! Luckily I have an honest dealer, and he is going to let me swap out this pistol in the morning. I'll post on the new one tomorrow. Thanks.

Best of luck in the switch, I'm in the final stages of getting a 92FS in the next couple of weeks.

Did you get the coupon for the free gun safe?

JRIGGS,

Not trying to be a smart a, but when you say "I noticed some tiny little marks inside the chamber right at the muzzle end" it doesn't make sense to me.

Are the marks at the muzzle, or the chamber? Or are they just past the chamber where the rifling begins?

If it is the chamber itself and it is still smooth, I wouldn't worry about it.
