Cory Booker introduces bill requiring Federal license to own guns

I fully support Booker's license to make a 50 state legal CHL that allows people to carry guns concealed in every state without limitation on type and magazine size. That is what he was calling for right?

We already have a federal document that allows everyone in the U.S. to own a firearm! Why do we need another?

If any politician says otherwise, they should pack their bags and move out! Maybe they should be held accountable for not honoring their oaths!

This is just out. Democrat Cory Booker introduced a new bill to require a Federal license to own firearms. He will never be President, but he is trying to force front runners to pick up his anti-gun agenda:

Some of these politicians are worse than some other similar radicals.
Won't even make it to the floor for a vote as long as McConnell and trump are calling the senate's procedural shots. Neither will force the GOP senators to 'go on the record' during this divisive political climate.
AND FIFY

Cory next should introduce a bill requiring a Federal License to say whatever you want to say without fear of 'offending' or 'triggering' quasi-permanently-outraged listeners.

Or possibly change the name from "Bill of Rights" to "Bill of Privileges", and make all of it only accessible to citizens at the whim of the government.

Either way, the effect is the same.

doesn't the 2nd Amendment already do what little cory wants?
To a purist, of course. In fact, a purist would say that state carry permit requirements are all violations of the 2nd Amendment.

A license to say anything; a license to print or publish any article that's even remotely political or sensitive; a license to worship at the church of your choice; ...

Once we start licensing constitutional rights, where does it stop?

I wasn't. I have long been of the belief that state carry permits are ["should be"] impermissible infringements on the 2nd Amendment.
I agree. unfortunately we have some states that want to leave America. for this reason a state issued permit would be necessary for reciprocity reasons alone. I am for constitutional carry.

it stops with a Fuehrer, or a President for Life, or a Supreme Ruler, or an Emperor...until the Rebel Alliance wins...IF it does...

Not sure if I was paying close attention, did we just skip to the NRA? :-)

I do see the 2A being broken before the end of my lifetime.
If or when it gets restored is the question I have and doubt I will be around to see it.

If the dem pres. want to's keep going with their anti gun agendas they'll be shooting gun owners to get rid of us.

We need a Stamp Act!!! But a stamp from the King if you want to publish something!!

That worked so well in the past. NFA stamps may get expanded to other things until we hit a similar boil over point. Fortunately we have a LOT of gun owners already. We need to keep introducing the kids to safe and fun gun handling and shooting sports and self defense rights and responsibilities. Otherwise lunatics like Beto and others will get what the want long down the road.

How about a 'gop' pres?

Despite these recent statements on the campaign trail, Americans might remember that Trump wasn't always such a strong supporter of gun ownership. Before he was a presidential contender, he called out Republicans who "walk the NRA line" and "refuse even limited restrictions" on firearms laws, in his 2000 book, The America We Deserve.
"I generally oppose gun control, but I support the ban on assault weapons and I also support a slightly longer waiting period to purchase a gun," he wrote.
“Today, I am directing the Department of Justice to dedicate all available resources to complete the review of the comments received, and, as expeditiously as possible, to propose for notice and comment a rule banning all devices that turn legal weapons into machineguns.”
resident Donald Trump caused consternation among some of his staunchest conservative supporters during a rambling White House meeting with lawmakers in which he expressed support for potentially unconstitutional gun control measures staunchly opposed by the NRA.

"to buy or possess"...

This would seem to include arms already in our possession.

In addition to an extensive background check, applicants would have to complete firearms training “which must include a written test and hands-on training to ensure safe use and accuracy,” and submit fingerprints. Further, the licensee would have to report to DOJ the make, model, and the serial number of the gun being transferred.
The license would have to be renewed every five years, to include refresher training and a subsequent background check. No license, no guns.

SO, license (FEES) training requirement (more cost), needs renewal every 5 years (More $$) Fingerprints ($), and make model & ser# reported to the FED (REGISTRAION).

and oh, the Fed gets to check you out, periodically, to ensure you're still in compliance (no mention how that works, warrantless searches, perhaps?) or who gets to pay for it.

I'm sure there are dozens of other devils lurking in the details that were not mentioned in the linked report.

This plan is what I find most troubling because I’m concerned it could be interpreted as “Constitutional”

Death of RKBA by fees and bureaucrats, if I had to pay a “fee” per gun the one gun thread would be a harsh reality.
