corrosive properties of non-fired black powder?

Is keeping a charge in you black powder rifle a good way to rust your barrel? Assume the gun was thoroughly cleaned before the charge was loaded.
 
The charcoal and the potassium nitrate are somewhat hygroscopic, but not nearly as much as the byproducts formed when the blackpowder burns.

I am glad to here that you like bore butter.I like it and I know it works so I will continue to use it.
It was surprising that you would use it after so many post about traditional muzzleloaders and traditional season's.Most of the guys that I hang out with that are traditionalist talk down bore butter like it was the worst thing in the world.
