corrosion

last winter we had a pipe burst and cellar had lot water so drained and run dehumidifier, well other day I noticed about 12 100rd boxes of ccri 22lr have some corrosion on bullet part! any ideas how to clean the corrosion off? tried tumbling didn't work, sad thing is all cases of ammo were new.

If that corrosion is whitish or even white in color, that's lead oxide and is extremely hazardous. Breathing in the dust or handling it can allow it to be absorbed by the skin. The ammo should still be shootable but thorough hand washing as soon as possible is highly recommended. That's the worst case scenario BTW. Hopefully it's something else.

wish I knew that b4 lol, right after posting I took 200 rds with white fuzzy corrosion and cleaned with steel wool then tumbled and sprayed with silicone, whipped them all and put in baggie to shoot first! didn't getall corrosion but most, hope isn't toxic lol. there must be good way to clean them, 22lr are so expensive if can find them and these are all cci 22lr mini mag never opened

I had some white fluffy bullets before, lol..

Fill a container with apple cider vinegar, just enough wo when the bullet put in bullet down wont cover the brass {my bras was clean just the lead was corroded}..

Then put your bullets in a circle and wrap with an elastic, put them in the vinegar, let them soak.. wipe them off in a bit and go shootem...

My wet bullets were .45acp semi wadcutters, I let them soak a day or so, I had 1200 of them to clean up ar $.30 each it was worth the effort for me... I used gloves and steel wool after they soaked, they looked brand new after that, I got the tip from my gun smith, he also said I could stick them in poatoes, I didn't get all the details, lol, the cider vinegar sounded much easier..
