Correcting Light Strikes on Revolver

Hi

I have a Taurus Model 85, which is light striking primers when shooting rapid fire double action.

It may be the make of primer but I also want to try and replace the springs.

Which spring is likely to be the cause of such problems - the main / hammer spring or the trigger spring?

Thanks, Racingsnake

In the past I've had two common things cause that issue.

1) Weak hammer spring.
2) The transfer bar is binding up someplace and stealing force from the hammer strike.

I know, not a lot of help but it's a place to start.

Had you switched to a harder primer recently?

Has this problem been coming on gradually, or did it just appear?

Of the springs, it's your main that drives the hammer.

I'd also check the firing pin to make sure that it's contacting the primer face at the correct angle and that its nose hasn't become distorted.

I am using primers which are known to be hard but I haven't had problems in the past. I bought a factory hammer spring and will try it and see what happens.

Thank you for the advice
