Correct DA technique

As a newcomer to revolvers (.38 S&W Model 10-calm down guys its a 1967) I'd like to know what is the proper way to fire double action?
Magazine articles are in disagreement, so I'd like to hear real world advice from real shooters. Do you "step" pull the trigger, i.e. pull back to a certain point and then thru to release, or a continuous straight pull?

Some people like to stage the trigger on the way to sight alignment. It is a personal thing.

I never stage the trigger, preferring a smooth even flow while maintaining the sight picture. For action pistol I don't have the time to mess with it as I feel it inserts a pause in the flow and slows me down. There are already too many things to think about.
