I know this is a revolver forum but since this ammo is only fired in revolvers I consider it a related topic. :D anyone have any experience shooting something living with corbon or buffalo bore? I hear this is really good stuff so im looking for some other opinions. which is hotter corbon or buffalo bore?

I've taken numerous hog, two Cape Buff and one Canadian Black Bear with Buff Bore ammo in 45-70 and 50 Alaskan. Performance has always been flawless. Also took a mountain lion with Buff Bore pistol ammo in 500 Linebaugh....bad first shot....that cat took lots of killing.

Lynn Thompson of Cold Steel is the only person I know to have taken the Big Five with handgun. Peter Pi of Corbon tells me that Lynn uses his ammo (Corbon) exclusively. I've not corroborated, but I take him at his word on this.

Both Peter and Tim Sundles of Buffalo Bore are big time hunters for what that's worth.

Thanks for the info Rich I know you know what you are talking about :D I gotta try that buffalo bore stuff one of these days. I bet buffalo bore .357 ammo in a 6 inch revolver would be great for pigs and deer.. with correct shot placment of course

Buffalo Bore?

I remember firing a box of BB 158 LSWCHP +P in .38 spl in my Ruger SP 101. Couldn't tell the difference between it and Golden Sabre in .357.

Matter of fact, I think the BB was rougher

For self defense, it would take a VERY determined individual who took a couple of hits with that stuff to still come at you! Too bad its soo expensive to practice with. Its an aquired taste in my SP 101.

CorBon

Last month during deer season, I took a whitetail doe at 25yrds. with one round to the head from my S&W 357 6" 66-2. I was using CorBon's 180gr. Bonded Core Soft Point rounds. When I squeezed off the shot, she dissapeared from my sight picture, and upon examination, I found a .35 caliber entrance wound, and a ragged exit wound somewhere in size between a quarter and a half dollar. I'm a fan of CorBon ammo, needless to say.
I don't have any personal experience with Buffalo Bores, but I hear good things from a friend who uses their "Heavy 44Mag" in his Redhawk. I hope to give em a try next November :D

I think im going to go Corbon because I can find that ammo easily around here.
If I want Buffalo bore I have to order it of the internet.
I wander if shooting too much Corbon in my 686P will put to much strain on it do you think? Well... I probably wouldnt because that would get real expensive...ya I think ill stick with that Magtech stuff for target shooting... way cheaper :D

Both are top notch and have taken deer cleanly for me with large exit wounds and no chance for bullet recovery...if you shoot 44mag try Garrett Hammerheads, in a class by themselves.
