Cor-Bon No More ???

I picked up a couple of boxes of Cor-Bon in 9x18 today at a gun show, but I heard that Cor-Bon no longer makes this round. Is this true? If so, does anybody know why they discontinued it? It's the hottest round out there for the Makarov outside of reloads. What a shame if it's true.

Hey,

My apologies folks. I thought my browser was screwing up when I tried to post this thread. It would never complete the post, and after waiting quite a while, I hit Submit several times. Turns out I wound up with several identical posts.

I've already emailed an administrator and asked him to clean up after me. But if there's anyone else here who has the power to zap the other four identical posts, such help would be most appreciated.

I'm blaming the Code Red Virus whether it's responsible or not.

Believe that is true in regards to the Cor-Bon. There was some discussion of this a couple of months ago. Check the archives.

Hmm, CorBon did recently acquire MagSafe. I am curious if they will continue 9x18 production. Personally, I have been quite pleased with CCI Gold Dots in 9x18.

I emailed Cor-Bon on this subject, and their reply was "Slow orders, and the suplier of the bullet they use (Sierra) discontinued production."

Did they? The last I heard, Peter Pi owned CorBon while MagSafe was sold by Joe Zambone before his death to Khalid Al Amari (sp?) of Weapons Unlimited in Apopka, FL. Did CorBon buy him out?

Yep guys, this load is a thing of the past for CORBON. It did not sell all that well for us and the projectiles themselves were such a poor seller for their manufacturer they dropped them. I can count on one hand the bullets this company has discontinued in the past 40 years for lack of sales.
The main problem here is the availability of 9MAK surplus ammo at give away prices. Where ever there is importation of surplus ammo, sales of higher performance ammo is a sometime thing. The same situation holds true for 7.62x39, 7.62x25 etc.
Shucks guys, I buy 7.62x39 Russian ammo for shootin' in my FEG AK myself; you can't beat the price at $75 per case of 1M.

Whoops, forgot to mention the first time around we did NOT buy Magsafe...WE BOUGHT GLASER and incorporated it into CORBON with both companies being owned by DAKOTA AMMO.

What Terry said.

From my sideways view. Regardless of how good a product is, the manufacturer must sell enough of it to make it worthwhile for the manufacturer. Same with componant supplier. If the manufacturer's sales are low, then they can't buy enough componants to make it worth while. If the componant supply dries up, then the manufacturer cant even make em at a loss.

On a low production rate item......comes down to either raisin the price to an unacceptable level.....or quit makin em.

Sam........been there.
