Copperhead 223 bullets

I bought the 1250 deal when it was free shipping... still, I think they fit that many in a $5 flat-rate box. I'm pretty sure it's the best deal I've ever seen on .223 bullets. Worked out to a pinch over .05ea. Even with shipping, it's still well under .06ea... yup, still the cheapest I've ever paid for .223.

I have yet to see an actual range report or to load any, but for the price, couldn't pass it up. They also shipped very fast and the bullets were in some stout plastic. I'll post up some close-ups when I get home.
 
There are some comments on the copper solids here. They indicate they have a lot of length variation and non-match accuracy without specifying what that is exactly. They mention these bullets are long for their weight, which is to be expected since copper is less dense than lead. It also means they need to be spun a little faster than the lead core versions. Where a 12" twist is fine for the Hornady 55's with their lead cores, these copper solids may want a 9" twist or faster. The reviewer who tested them didn't say what he had.
 
Just received 1500 from AM......Gonna try some low-to-midrange load data for other makes of mono-constructed bullets, but to be on the safe side, I'm gonna coat a few rounds with some moly first just in case they're too soft, to check on whether they'll foul the barrel too easily.

I've tried to beat the Monmouth deals and have not found one. Fast shipping and great people to deal with.
 
as for load data, use any of the 55gr all copper starting loads and work up. honaday GMX is all copper and says to use their sst data, barnes is also all copper and im sure they have plenty of data on 55gr's
