cop shoots guy 22 times in the core before he goes down

Good fighting spirit on the officers part, after being shot up pretty good himself. From the article-

Remarkably, Palmer had taken 22 hits from Soulis' .40-caliber Glock, 17 of which had hit center mass. Despite the fact that the weapon had been loaded with Ranger SXTs—considered by many to be one of the best man-stoppers available—Palmer lived for more than four minutes after the last shot was fired. His autopsy revealed nothing more than a small amount of alcohol in his bloodstream.

The Glock was most likely a Model 22.

SXT or not, there ain't no magic bullets.

Some folks take a lot shooting to keep them down. Usually these are folks who have determined to make their last stand, and by fate or circumstance, you just happen to be the lucky guy who got selected to help them do it.

You have to be prepared for that eventuality.

And on a final note see that some cops really can shoot, and score hits under the worst of conditions.

A big Bravo to Officer Soulis. We could all learn from his example.

We carry 9mm sxt's. Department switched over from hydrashoks a couple of years ago. I would've guessed PCP, we see a lot of that here.

Damn good shooting though.
