I came accross something yesterday that made me drool. It's a 1911 style pistol chambered in 357 Magnum. Yes, that's right. It is chambered in 357 Magnum, not 357 Sig. It was made by a company named Coonan. I heard that they are out of business. Has anyone here heard of these or handled them? Does anyone own one? Are there a lot out there? What do they cost? SInce I saw this at about 4AM on Saturday, I haven't thought about much else.

Nice gun, very much like a 1911 cept the grip is stretched a tad fore n aft to make room for the longer cartridge, trigger is set back so the reach isn't bad. I was thinkin of buyin one last year but the dealer who had it ignored me so I walked.

The few that I know who have shot em liked them.

They also were made in .41mag.:)

I have owned two. Had to get rid of one due to divorce. I managed to keep one with seven magazines. It is one of the best and most accurate autos I own. Properly lubed with good ammo has been very reliable. I use it for a carry gun in the winter.
I have tried to get a .41 since the factory told me they were going to make them at the last S.H.O.T. show they attended.
They have since gone out of business. This would round out my
shooting autos...too bad:( . If you find one at a price you can stand I highly reccomend you get it. Magazines and some spare parts can be hard to find.

Cheers,

ts
