Cook County IL Bans More Firearms

Just thought I'd post this in case anyone didn't already find out. Here's the article. DEADLY WEAPONS DEALER CONTROL ORDINANCE

Luckily(?), I never got around to buying any of the banned firearms, so I don't have to get them out of the county in 90 days. They just sort of passed it with no publicity, no notice to anyone - typical. Just another case of stupidity from the Daley/Blagojovich machine.

Still trying to get out of here and into Arizona!

I know it's childish, and that it would not do any good nor make any difference...but I really want to get that county commissioner on the phone JUST to call him a retard. It would just make me feel better. Is that so wrong?

Mwahahaha

been while since a I checked but in chicago city limits guns are banned for most parts unless your a privileged class. not suprised cook county is worsening.

heres a movie for you Folks on Despotism from 1946
Despotism 1946 Film

based upon that movie I would have to say chicago/cook county is quite a despotic place.

because what happens in a single community is the problem of its own citizens but it is also the problem of us all, because as communities go so goes the nation

I love laws that ban guns that cost $2-3000 on the collector market under the auspices of crime control. Its like I can picture two homeys arguing over doing a drive by with a STG57 lol.

You guys in Chicago need to find more dead guys to vote against the Daley machinations.

Larger Scale

The Cook County Ban is very similar to California's. I remember some posts here stating they didn't care what happened in the state of fruits and nuts, that everything was honky-dory in their area.

What goes around comes around, eh Roy?

Ironically, it looks like this "assault weapon" ban would allow an unmodified M1A/M14 rifle (with flash suppressor, that is) as long as it had a 10-round (or less) mag in it. Here in California we have to put muzzle brakes on them, or they are evil.

They're doing it in increments. I think we have 3 Republicans on the board of 17 or so. They were going to ban additional rifles, etc. My Republican Commissioner eventually voted for this expansion after she "won a victory" by getting a couple of models off of the list. Some victory. They just took one step closer to the Chicago ban. This stuff goes from Chicago to Cook County and eventually to the State of Illinois level.

You are right on. These gun bans are done in small bits and pieces.

I remember when the assault weapon ban was being proposed in california, I knew some shotgunners that felt that it wasn't their fight. Their Berettas and 1100's were not being threatened. When they put more restrictions on handguns in California, many rifle shooters were not too concerned, after all, they used "hunting" rifles in their sport. Handgun restrictions were not going to affect them. One day, the rifle guys and the shotgun guys will have their rights stomped on too.

Sooner or later, all these gun bans, will affect all of us. It doesn't matter where you live, it will eventually get to you.

What is the deal with these people's obsession with: "barrel shrouds that allow the firearm to be gripped by the non-trigger hand without being burned"

Aside from a few shotguns what firearms have these? They are mentioned so many times in the law that you would think that every "bad" (mean-looking) gun out there has one. It seems like a weird feature to center in on. How many urban firefights last long enough for the barrel to get warm, let alone hot enough to burn you?

The whole nine yards

Inch by inch encroachments on everyone's rights. All weapons have sporting purposes. ARs are a great example of what they fear, and what many a target shooter only kills paper with.
