Converting Calico Liberty 9mm Carbine

Just picked up a Calico Liberty carbine for a good price. I'm looking to convert it from stationary stock to sliding stock tactical. Somebody told me you could drill out the rivets that hold the stock in place on the two side rails and replace them with self tapping screws. Anybody ever done this?

New to this site... This is my first post...

Dang! There've been over 200 posts behind this thread, and nobody has any input???

Is this a taboo question, or or something???

Welcome to TFL!

Sorry, the only input I can give is that I had a Calico 9mm carbine about 20 years ago. And it had the collapsable stock. Can't say about others, or new ones, sorry.

Mine also had a crack in the plastic lower reciever, and I got rid of it when it started doubling, to a fellow who said he could fix it.

I'd be leary of doing anything to the gun, if it involves the plastic parts.

No, but keep in mind that the Calicos are not widely owned. The more esoteric stuff does take some time to get answered. Welcome to TFL, and I hope you find somebody who can give you a good answer.

After being on this board for a few years I can probably count on one hand how many times the Calico has been brought up. My LGS has one on the wall rack and has been there for at least two years. It's just not a common gun!:o
