Converting a PreBan Cobray M12 to a PostBan M12 380??

Is it possible to convert a PreBan Cobray M12 380 to a PostBan M12 380?
I have a NIB Cobray PreBan M12 and would like to keep it brand new. I was thinking, what if I just buy the upper half of the gun (forgot what it is called) in PostBan configuration. Would this PostBan upper half of the gun fit and would the gun still be fireable, without doing any damage to the PreBan lower half of the gun.

Uh, yes there is. The Postban is called a PM-12, and is the same exact gun as the Preban M12 except that the threaded barrel and magazine release have been replaced by more politically correct parts.
