About a week ago I received a phone call from a friend in another state who wanted to know if this conversion could be done safely. We both had purchased our 27's the same month a couple of years ago. I love mine and so did he, until the stories began to get to him. "Unsupported chambers" and "K-boom" horror stories have gotten to him. I tried to talk him out of it, but he wants to give it a try. I asked if anyone had done the conversion on "Glock Talk" and to my surprise, some had. Quite successfully too. It turns out that all that is needed to make the switch is a 9MM conversion barrel (same outside diameter as the .40 caliber barrel) and a 9MM magazine. Some had used Olympic Arms for the conversion barrel. So, I sent Oly an e-mail and they responded that indeed they do offer a conversion barrel. However, the barrels are not in stock and it would be 2-3 months before they are ready to ship.
I'd like to know if anyone has tried this conversion and been successful. (And pleased with the outcome!) Also, what company did you use for the conversion barrel?
Thanks,
Will
