I have a Sile 1858 Rem. that I want to do a .45LC conversion cylinder. Is this a close enough twin to a Uberti or Pietta to modify things to work safely?

1858 Rem. New Army Made in 1977, stainless steel, Sile Inc. NY. NY., DGG within a circle which either is Armi San Paulo or Euroarms. I have not been able to locate conversion cylinders for this, only Uberti and Pietta. Great riches, wealth and health will come your way if you can help (ok maybe a chain letter)..

PHYDOUGH when i got my 1st cnversion cylinder
it did not fit to good but with a little work to the
gun i had that smoke wagon sloging led down that
range;) i have a asm and a peitta and a ubertie
the 45 fits both asm and peitta, and the conversion
does not fit the uberti the cylinder is a , yes a ubertti
go figger that but i will make it fit, what i am getting
at is you can make them fit with a little work and a
small amout of no how you can do it. i got this old
58 brass fame for 5 bucks wich i dont hold with but
a new task to work on, so all internall parts are from
a mix of everything and it shoots ok, its a bit sloppy
but it cost 5 bucks what the heck, so get a cylinder
and get to work, you dont have to shoot it to have
FUN.:eek::D

Phydough,...I think that generally the Euroarms/Armi San Paolo (DGG) Remingtons will take an Uberti conversion cylinder. Here's an early engraved Armi San Paolo Rem that my brother owned and I was reassembling it (reason for missing grips) and was able to put in my Uberti '58 Rem R&D, ... it cycled nicely with no problem. He later used an Uberti R&D in it and it worked well.

What Long Rider says is right about being able to fit them if there happens to be a slight problem. Each gun varies slightly in size of parts & fit, but sometimes all that's necessary is a little stoning of the ratchets at the rear of the cyl., or on the end of the hand (pawl). I had one R&D rubbing slightly against the frame beneath the knurling of the outer edge of the backplate , so I just filed the frame slightly so the cyl. would pass freely.
